Our urologists treat conditions of the kidneys, bladder, prostate and male reproductive organs. Many urology procedures are quick, done as day surgery, and help with problems that can be difficult to talk about. You are in safe, private hands.
Removal of the foreskin The foreskin covering the tip of the penis is removed. This may be for medical reasons, such as a tight foreskin or repeated infections, or for personal or cultural reasons.
Male sterilisation The tubes that carry sperm are cut and sealed so that pregnancy cannot happen. It is a quick procedure and should be considered permanent.
Looking inside the bladder A thin camera is passed through the urethra to check the bladder and urine passage. Used for blood in the urine, repeated infections or bladder problems.
Testing the prostate Small samples of the prostate are taken and tested, usually after a raised PSA blood test or an abnormal examination.
Removing stones from the bladder Stones in the bladder are broken up and removed, usually through a scope with no cuts on the body.
Helping urine drain from the kidney A thin, soft tube is placed between the kidney and bladder to help urine drain, for example after kidney stone treatment. It is later removed with a quick scope.
Treating swelling in the scrotum Removes a build-up of fluid around the testicle that causes swelling.
Treating swollen veins in the scrotum Enlarged veins in the scrotum, which can cause discomfort or affect fertility, are tied off.
Removing a cyst near the testicle A fluid-filled lump near the testicle that is painful or growing is removed.
Bringing down an undescended testicle A testicle that has not moved into the scrotum is brought down and fixed in place, usually in young boys.
Removal of a testicle One or both testicles are removed when they are seriously injured or diseased.
Testing testicular tissue A small sample of tissue is taken from the testicle, often as part of fertility testing.
Releasing a tight frenulum Lengthens the small band of skin under the tip of the penis that is too tight and causing pain or tearing.
Reconnecting the tubes The tubes cut during a vasectomy are joined back together to restore the chance of pregnancy.
